Get started on your smart manufacturing journey.
What You’ll Get
A starter kit
Hardware and software that will give you the electrical consumption data from three locations in your plant and will be useful in connecting other sensors or devices that you will need for your custom pilot project
Engineering services of a trusted integrator
The project provides funding to cover time with an integrator to develop use cases to meet your needs and get the whole system up and running for you.
Training
The program will provide training opportunities so that you learn how to use your starter kit, and can start to figure out where you might go next.
Energy Insights leverages the expertise of the integrator partners we are working with to bring you a package that will help drive insights that your company needs to operate more productively during and after the pilot. The IEDC will fund the following three elements for each participant:
The Starter Kit
-
Power Monitors
Each starter kit will include the sensors and edge computing device to precisely monitor the power consumption at three locations in your facility, whether it’s a machine or the entire site.
-
Edge Programmable Industrial Controller (EPIC):
The starter kit includes one EPIC provided by our partner Opto-22, which serves as a gateway for the data, hosts the edge software and has many more capabilities that can be tapped by the users.
-
Software
The EPIC will be preloaded and licensed for use with Ignition Platform and the Ignition Data historian. Customers can choose between a perpetual license for 3 sessions of perspectives, or a 1 year ignition cloud subscription with the full Inductive Automation Software suite.

Services Package
System Integrators are experts that help you develop and execute your smart manufacturing strategy. They can help you collect and analyze factory data and create visuals to show it meaningfully. They watch industry trends and help you make good technology investment decisions moving forward. In this program, each participant will be paired with an integrator who will provide time and tools to help you execute your pilot project.
+
Training Package
An efficient training to empower the customer to use their system, understand their energy data and and scale to additional uses and sensors.

Key Players Roles and Responsibilities
-
The IEDC sponsors the program and sets the strategy for the program. The IEDC oversees the participants selection, the starter kit design, the educational program and the integrator selection. The IEDC defines the program’s success.
-
ESN will manage the program including recommending and managing the integrators, recommending the participants, selecting the starter kit components and evaluating the programs success. The program manager develops and executes the program’s educational component. The program manager guides the development of the program over time to create more repeatable, scalable and interoperable solutions over time.
-
The integrator will be responsible for the full scope of work required to deliver valuable insights to the customer and reporting those results to the program (see details below). They will also be asked to be active participants in the program, participating in strategy sessions, knowledge shares and provide ongoing updates and program feedback (see details below). The integrators will help the program manager to create more repeatable and low-cost solutions over time.
