Ignition Cloud Edition

Energy INsights has updated the cloud version of the Energy INsights starter kit to include a 1-year license of Ignition Cloud Edition deployed on an AWS virtual server. Ignition Cloud Edition is a one-stop shop, where users can get a server on the cloud and a license to all of Inductive Automation’s Ignition Software modules. This will simplify the deployment of the Energy INsights starter kits, by making the base package easily replicable across all sites. During the 1-yr pilot period, program participants will have access to the entire suite of Inductive Automation software and the TotalCare support package, allowing them to find new ways to collect and analyze their plant data.

In this architecture, the plant’s data will be sent from the plant’s Opto-22 EPIC device to their Ignition Cloud Instance using MQTT. This communication protocol balances the need to have a secure data stream while also allowing users to flexibly send their data to other locations if they want to engage other partners in the analysis of their data in the future.

The cloud and software as a service model, such as this, is a good fit for some Indiana manufacturers. This cloud option provides clear pricing and still allows customers to scale their system as their needs change or grow. Energy INsights also has an on-prem option, also given at no cost to Indiana Manufacturers, with a small, lighter version of Ignition on the customer’s local server.
